| 概要 | This study examined the longitudinal relationship between favorable changes in weight status and academic performance in children. Two-year data from 197 Japanese seventh-grade students were analyzed, with academic performance assessed by total grades in five subjects and weight status measured by BMI. The results showed that weight gain among underweight children and weight loss among overweight children were positively associated with academic performance, even after controlling for socioeconomic status, learning time, screen time, exercise habits, and cardiorespiratory fitness. These findings suggest that achieving a healthier weight status may support children’s academic development. |
