| 概要 | This study examined the cognitive process underlying the coexistence of neoconservatism
and neoliberalism in Japan. Specifically, it was hypothesized that patriotism enhances perceived justice in national institutions—referred to here as institutional procedural justice—which in turn promotes support for the norm of personal responsibility. A mail survey was conducted in six cities in Hokkaido, yielding responses from 531 voters. Regression and mediation analyses revealed that patriotism significantly improved perceptions of institutional procedural justice, which in turn strengthened support for personal responsibility norms. In addition, these variables also positively predicted support for the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). The findings suggest that emotional identification with the nation plays a key role in shaping perceived justice and the acceptance of social norms, contributing to conservative party support. |
